Shout out to my Cuz
I have a cousin in New York city doin' the big city life thing. She's quite the go-getter; a real ambitious type who's somehow been managin' to pull it off for years when a normal person would probably have keeled over and died under that sick Manhattan pressure.Her latest project is launching a magazine targeted at showing off and bettering the quality of life for Asian Americans nation-wide. This lil entry is my way of showin' her a lil love and support from all the way in China.
Check out Altra Magazine as it readies its launch in mid November and if you fancy, I'd suggest a subscription. If you're in NYC you can land yourself a party with some MTV peoples too. How about that?
Now if you've paid attention, I'm sure you've noticed the coming and going of waves of Asian American magazines. Does anyone still remember "A" magazine? That seemed to have been doing well for a while until it went under for all kindsa financial reasons. Too bad eh? When I look around a few have managed to stick it out with small target audiences. The most successful ones tend to be the quirky variety like "Giant Robot."
Will my cousin be able to make it in this awfully dangerous and unpredictable land of Asian American minority focused magazine publishing?
She's certainly capable enough and she's certainly got the drive. All she needs is a lil' support. So please show her a lil love by lettin' others know.
